WATERBURY – The 1972 Olympic bronze medal for the 1,500 meters was in the city Tuesday. It made stops at Chase Park House, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Waterbury and the Police Activities League.

The medal was escorted by the man who won it, Rod Dixon of New Zealand. The 1983 winner of the New York City Marathon, Dixon, 63, was here to promote his KidsMarathon program. Now in its 20th year, 10th in the United States, the KidsMarathon brings the joy of running to more than 50,000 boys and girls around the world each year.
